To most Northern politicians, accounts of Maj. Al-Mustapha on the circumstances surrounding the death of the business mogul and politician, Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola was more than enough to desire as most of them were contented referring to it.

For instance, the Publicity Secretary of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa state, Mohammed Abdullahi was diplomatically evasive on the issue, hinging it on the circumstances that prevailed during the time.

He said, “Yes, considering the political circumstances of that time and the vested interest of the military to perpetuate themselves in power by killing the June 12, election annulment saga, the Wikipedia position saying Abiola was assassinated is correct.”

According to him, secret operations are controlled by classified information which will be extremely difficult to access, “That’s why the public may not have enough facts apart from the circumstances of the unfortunate incident,” he added.

Similarly, the former gubernatorial aspirant of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Dr. Umar Ardo told our reporter, “Major Al-Mustapha has revealed many hidden facts on this matter and I have no reason to disbelieve him because he should know.”

Stressing his position on this, the Abuja-based Historian added, “moreover, no one has so far come out to dispute that account. However, God knows the truth. Abiola is dead, he died a national hero, and may his soul rest in perfect peace.”
